With the BMJ being web based you have the freedom to complete training whenever & where ever you see fit. You can select courses that suit your interests or ones that support your current work environment.
The modules are exceptionally informative, having competed many myself I feel that the content has provided me with a much greater understanding of the topics I have covered. This has enabled me to continue to develop my practice in an evidenced based manner. This in turn has had a direct impact on my patients and their care. I will continue to complete BMJ modules possible even expanding my horizon to other practice areas, we work in such a diverse setting why not take a greater interest in our colleagues, their professions & develop ourselves at the same time.
SOCIAL MEDIA TRAINING—REFLECTIVE CASE STUDY BY DR CHRIS CLARK, HEAD OF ADVANCED PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT
The session was informal and friendly, I even got a brew. Abbas showed me how Twitter worked and during the session sent out a tweet as a demonstration of how quickly it could spread the word, how hashtags made a difference.
checking to see how many people had seen it, my eyes widening with surprise each time I looked, 100 within the hour, then 400 within 12 hours. More importantly the interactions were translating into bookings. Three days after the tweet was sent 1095 people had seen the tweet, 148 had interacted with it in some way and all the places for the event had been booked.
I am following and being followed by some quite influential people and groups now and my voice is being heard in places I couldn’t have imagined.
I’m not sure Twitter has changed my life, but it has certainly changed my approach to social media and sharing information. Give it a try; it might help you in your role too.
