Problem
Microbial resistance to antibiotics is a serious global health problem compounded by antibiotic overuse and limited investment in new antibiotic research. There are specific concerns that inappropriate antibiotic exposure in the perinatal period can lead to both short-term and lifelong adverse outcomes.
