In the UK, Foundation doctors (newly graduated doctors) are encouraged to participate in quality improvement (QI), and must demonstrate evidence of this for their Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP).
Quality improvement represents the identification and implementation of measurable systematic changes to further enhance patient experience and health care outcomes.
Foundation Year 1 (F1) doctors must demonstrate involvement in a QI project, whereas Foundation Year 2 (F2) doctors must lead one. The fulfilment of ARCP requirements is mandatory for progression to the next year of training
